Fiona McLauchlan

Counsellor

Hi, I’m Fiona. I’m so glad you are here. I imagine you arrived here because you are curious, or interested, or maybe searching. I can appreciate that, as I do that, too. Gathering information is a really important step when choosing a counsellor, and it is so important to find someone who is a good fit for you. I’m happy to talk together and answer any questions you might have as you gather your information.

If you’ve experienced something overwhelming, it can feel like the “real you” has been hidden away. Whether you are navigating past trauma or the heavy pressures of modern life, you might feel stuck in survival mode or disconnected from your own story.

I provide a calm, steady space to help you move from “just getting by” to a life where you feel back in control. I believe healing happens through the accumulation of small, meaningful moments where you feel safe, seen, and respected. Our therapeutic partnership provides the foundation to practice new ways of relating to yourself and the world.

A Partnership You Can Trust

My work is guided by the 2025 National Standards for Counsellors, ensuring your care is safe, ethical, and research-based.

  • Celebrating Your Unique Path: I prioritise your strengths and personal growth, offering a flexible partnership rather than a “one-size-fits-all” model.
  • Scientifically Informed: I blend modern brain science to calm the nervous system with integration strategies to resolve the internal conflicts that leave you feeling “stuck.”
  • Experienced Advocacy: Alongside my work at Life Therapies Victoria, I facilitate family violence recovery groups. This deepens my commitment to ensuring your voice is the most important one in the room.

How We Can Work Together

I provide the opportunity for a therapeutic relationship to help you navigate:

  • Family Violence & Relational Trauma: Processing power imbalances to restore safety, self-trust, and your right to choose your path.
  • Religious Trauma & Spiritual Abuse: Supporting you to untangle your true self and your personal beliefs from controlling environments, helping you reclaim a sense of peace and spiritual autonomy.
  • Modern Stress, Burnout & Addictive Patterns: Understanding the “why” behind self-soothing habits and calming the distress of an overwhelmed nervous system.
  • Boundaries & Self-Sovereignty: Rebuilding your internal “fences” so you can safely set limits and be the authority in your own life.
  • Finding Meaning: Exploring the “big questions” to discover a future that feels authentic and authored by you.

I am available to work together online or in person.
